Confirmed. Ontario raising vehicle sticker renewal cost AGAIN.

Sept. 1, 2016

Only 5 years ago, on Sept. 1, 2011 fee to renew registration sticker in Ontario was at $74.

As of Sept. 1, 2016 this fee will now be at $120 (Southern Ontario). That's a 64 percent increase in only 5 years. For Northern Ontario residents fee increases from $54 to $60.

According to the government of Ontario, the increased fees are needed for the rising costs of road maintenance, bridges and highways and also to improve our infrastructure.

Ontario has approximately 12 million registered vehicles which means that this increase will generate over $120 million.
